about

This is the third collaboration between Orphan Train Project and Stefanie Wassman; a stripped back, acoustic version of ‘Parasol’.

We tried recording this version back in late 2021 but ran out of time and energy before I returned to Australia in early 2022, recording my ‘pop’ version of the song later that year. Back in Berlin in the spring of 2024, we tried again, tracking new vocals and adding some subtle backing instruments in the following days.

If you like the song, have a listen to our other collaborations, ‘The Last Star’ and ‘The Rites of Spring’, and feel free to download and share.

lyrics

Far away – voices I’m talking to
Voices from yesterday – said ‘we will bury you’
Going home – rain on the motorway
Trapped in the atmosphere – but I love you anyway

Alpha rays - burn through the centrefold
Lay waste to everything – secrets we never told

Light of the moon on your face
Lines where your memories trace

Where the hidden names are
And are you ready to go?
I’m calling over oceans – a letter to the sea
I’ve got a way to run – before the fear takes hold
I saw you through the window – your eyes like parasols

Light of the moon on your face
Lines where your memories trace

Where the hidden names are
And are you ready to go?
I saw you through the window – your eyes like parasols
